School of Excellence kids at World Cup Match

By United Through Sport - Posted on 15 June 2010

The first World Cup match to be played in Port Elizabeth was the Korea vs. Greece match on the 12th June 2010. As this was only the 2nd day of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the excitement of South Africa hosting the World Cup was still at its peak.

A selection of 20 kids from the School of Sporting Excellence was made for them to be part of this history. Criteria such as diligence and commitment were used to choose the lucky 20 who got the tickets to go watch the game. At the stadium, their behaviour proved just how much they deserved to be chosen for this.

For most of the kids, this was their first time going to this stadium, so it was extra special to them that the first match they watched there was a World Cup match! Blowing their vuvuzela’s, all the kids they were extremely excited to be there to experience this once in a lifetime opportunity.

It was great to have the kids afforded such an opportunity; this will definitely be a day to remember!
